Bearsden girl (16) is indecently assaulted

POLICE are hunting a man who indecently assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Bearsden at the weekend.

The victim was walking along a lane which leads from Abbotsford Road to Westborne Crescent when she was approached from behind and pushed to the ground between 10.15 and 10.30pm.

She was then subjected to an indecent assault and although uninjured, the Bearsden teenager was left badly shaken by Friday night's ordeal.

The attacker ran off in the direction of Abbotsford Road. He is described as white, around 16 to 17 years old, of medium build and wearing a green hooded tracksuit top and matching green tracksuit trousers.

Detective Sergeant Jackie Ferrie from Kirkintilloch CID said: "I would urge anyone who can help identify this man to come forward. Thankfully the woman was uninjured. However, this was a particularly frightening experience for her to go through. She is still very distressed and has been traumatised by the whole incident.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Abbotsford Road and Westbourne Crescent around the time of the incident who may have seen a man fitting the description of the suspect, or may have seen or heard a disturbance, to come forward as a matter of urgency."

Anyone with information should call Kirkintilloch CID on 0141 532 4400 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
