The head teacher of Bearsden Primary School has announced that she is to retire.
In a letter to parents issued on Friday (March 21), Marianne Young said she is stepping down after 17 years at the helm.
She said: “I have decided to retire at the end of June. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as head teacher, working with the pupils, staff and parents and will no doubt miss everyone tremendously.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead the school over the years and to watch so many pupils flourish during that time.
“Bearsden Primary is an outstanding school and I am sure this will continue under new leadership.I would like to thank all of the parents, past and present, for their supportand commitment to the school.
“This has helped to make Bearsden Primary a very successful and highly achieving school.
“I understand that East Dunbartonshire Council plan to advertise the HeadTeacher’s post early in the summer term and I will keep you informed of the outcome of this process.Thanks once again for your support over the years.”
