Gold medal winning Bearsden Olympian Katherine Grainger CBE has helped launch a prestigious fundraising evening for children’s charity Aberlour.
She took to the water at the Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club to launch Going for Gold, an opportunity to learn the secret to success at an exclusive black tie dinner with the renowned Olympian.
The evening will be hosted by BBC Sports presenter and broadcaster Alison Walker and will take place on Thursday, June 5 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Katherine said: “This promises to be a fabulous evening in aid of a great cause, and I’m really pleased to be able to take part.
“I’ve worked with Aberlour for a number of years, I’ve seen the vital work which they undertake and it means a lot to me that I can help them in this way.”
Sarah Nicholson, Aberlour fundraising executive, said: “We’re really thrilled that Katherine is able to join us for what promises to be an exclusive evening, learning about her journey and how she built up to achieving that fantastic gold medal at the 2012 Games.
“We’re always pleased to be able to work with our celebrity supporters and help raise funds for the work we do with Scotland’s children and young people.”
Tickets cost £100 with all proceeds going to Aberlour, and are available by contacting Sarah Nicholson on firstname.lastname@example.org
