An inspection of Bearsden Cross war memorial has revealed it is in need of some structural repairs to keep it in good condition.
A structural engineer has been commissioned by the council to produce a report for the authority following concerns raised at last year’s Remembrance Sunday parade.
Keith Scrimgeour, neighbourhood network manager, said: “Our war memorials are an important part of our local heritage and we carry out annual inspections and clean-ups to maintain their appearance.
“Sadly the war memorial at Bearsden Cross is in need of additional attention as it has suffered some visible structural damage.
“In December we commissioned a structural engineering and conservation report into its condition and once we know the extent of the work that is needed we will be able to look at funding options and timescales.”
