The 1st Bearsden Brownie unit presented a cheque for £200 to Bonny McKerracher from Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society (Europe) recently.

This charity supports children and families with rare chromosome disorders of the 18th chromosome. These disorders cause a wide range of disabilities which need a lot of medical and educational support.

She said: “Very little is know about the various conditions as they have only been identified since the discovery of DNA. Research is helping us to learn more.

“The money you have raised for us is greatly appreciated. It will help to cover the cost of the materials we need for activities.”

Girlguiding in Bearsden and Milngavie are also in need of support, they need people who would be willing to come and help out on a weekly basis with our Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Senior Section unitd.

For more information on Girlguiding or how to join, please visit www.girlguidingscotland.org.uk and click on “Get Involved”.
