Bearsden boy David Moyes has been sacked as manager of Manchester United.
He was shown the door at Old Trafford after a string of disappointing results - including Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to his former club, Everton.
The club had also tamely surrendered their crown as English champions and will not qualify for the lucrative Champion’s League next year.
Moyes (50) - a former Bearsden Academy pupil who lived on Stockiemuir Road - was on a six year, £33million deal.
After being announced as Sir Alex Ferguson’s chosen successor last year, his aunt and uncle Anne and John Cochrane, from Bishopbriggs, described him as a family man who has been “passionate about football since he was a boy in Bearsden.”
After leaving Bearsden Academy, Moyes started a career whcih saw him play for Celtic.
He had a stint as manager of Preston North End before building his reputation at Everton.
Relative success there saw him getting the Man U job.
Moyes has two grown up children and his dad, David Snr, who was a scout for Everton, left Bearsden to follow his son south.
David Jnr met his wife Pamela 20 years ago at a disco at the Winnock Hotel in Drymen.
