A star studded night as Bearsden’s Laura meets Michael Buble, Kylie Minogue and Rod Stewart!

ONE lucky student from the Bearsden branch of UKTheatreSchool performed with Rod Stewart for his ITV Christmas Special on Saturday.

Laura Dougan (21) was part of an 18 piece choir formed for the Stirling Castle extravaganza.

And they even got a team talk from singing star Michael Buble before their performance.

UKTheatreSchool’s principal Lizanne Thomson was asked by ITV to provide eighteen young people aged seven to 24 years old to sing the song Silent Night from Rod’s latest album Merry Christmas, Baby and she jumped at the chance.

Lizanne said: “We had just a week to put everything together and we worked around the clock to get the young students ready for this high profile event.”

The excited young Scottish performers mingled with the star-studded line up including Nicola Benedetti, Kylie Minogue and Michael Buble. The audience was full of celebrity guests such as Holly Willoughby, Billy Connolly, Gerard Butler and sports personalities like Neil Lennon and other famous footballers.

Laura Dougan said: “We couldn’t believe our luck when Michael Buble gave us a team talk just before we walked on stage and high-fived each one of us.

“Michael Buble had us totally psyched as we went on to perform with Rod in front of the celebrity audience. It was an amazing experience we will never forget.”

She aded: “After watching our performance, all the stars told us how amazing we were and made us feel fantastic.”

The youngest member of the choir, seven year old Ava Khalid managed to pluck up the courage to approach Michael Buble saying “Mr Buble, can we please have a group photo with you?” He thought she was adorable and said “Little darling, you can have anything you want!” He gladly posed for pictures and wished the students all the very best of luck.

The group talso got pictures with Nicola Benedetti who wore a beautiful long gold dress, Kylie Minogue who wore a gorgeous long sparkling red gown and, of course, Rod Stewart himself.
