A Milngavie man enjoyed visiting Buckingham Palace to collect his OBE recently ‑ the same day he celebrated his 67th birthday.

Hunter Reid, who was there with his wife, daughter and her husband, was presented with the award on Tuesday, November 12 “for services to architecture and to community engagement in Glasgow” by Prince William.

Mr Reid said: “The day was fabulous and one that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life.

“It was interesting to meet and talk to some of the other 100 or so recipients of awards.

“I was delighted that I was there on the same day as one of my favourite actors, Tony Robinson of Blackadder fame, who was being knighted.

“I was intrigued to read in the press the next day that in true Baldrick fashion he forgot to bow before walking up to Prince William and then walked out of the entrance instead of the exit door!”
