Loads on at Gala Day on Saturday

Talented local children will get the chance to show off their talents on the main stage at Westerton Gala Day this

Saturday (September 5).

The entertainment will kick off with the Gala Queen parade at 12pm from Wheatfield Road, and the crowning ceremony at 12.15pm.

This will be followed with a performance by Parkhall Pipe Band at 12.30pm and Westerton’s Got Talent competition at 12.45pm.

Boclair Academy pupils perform at 1pm and dancers from the Eileen Degnan School of Dance will perform at 1.30pm.

One of the organisers, Kim Kilgour, said: “ We have lots of things going on to keep everyone entertained throughout the whole afternoon.

“I am especailly looking forward to watching kids from the local primary schools and local high school performing on stage.

“It amazes me how much talent we have on our doorstep.”

There wil be loads more to keep the kids entertained all afternoon including inflatables in the field, archery, bubble football, a magician in the library at 1pm, 2pm and 3.30pm, crazy golf and wacky races from 2pm to 3pm as well as fun tennis activities all afternoon.

There will also be bookbug sessions for the wee ones (0 to 3 years old) from 2.30pm in Westerton Library.

And a toddler area in the tennis club gardens, organised by Westerton Nursery and Lullaby Lane Nursery.

Adults will also be catered for including a pamper area to get a massage, your nails done, eyebrow threading and henna tattoos.

There will also be a tearoom in the Brownie Hut with wonderful home baking, a Bake off competition, craft fair and food all day.

For a memorable keepsake from the day why not pop in to the fun photobooth in Westerton Hall - this has been organised and supervised by Knightswood Camera Club- a chance to have your photo taken with silly accessories.
