Let it shine for charity

ORGANISERS of Cancer Research UK’s Shine event have put out a call to people in Milngavie and Bearsden to support this year’s event.

The charity is appealing for help from anyone who can lend a hand at the night-time walking event which takes place in Glasgow on Saturday September 10.

When taking part in Shine, participants can choose a full or half marathon route, and decide to fund the area of cancer research closest to their hearts.

Organisers are hoping 5,000 people will take to the streets on the night, illuminating Glasgow in an inspirational procession of light, passing landmarks such as the People’s Palace and the botanic gardens.

The charity hopes Shine Glasgow will raise as much as £1million for life saving research.

Cancer Research UK is looking to recruit an army of 300 volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly on the night.

The charity’ staff will be there on the night to brief, guide and support volunteers and everyone who signs up to help will receive a special t-shirt to wear.
