Leading Australian theologian to deliver next ‘Thinking Allowed’ lecture

Internationally-acclaimed theologian, Australian author and teacher Dr Val Webb will deliver a keynote lecture at Cairns Church, Milngavie, on Thursday, April 9, as part of a UK tour.

Dr Webb’s career spans microbiology, business, public relations, writing, art and theology. She holds a Ph.D. in religious studies and is recognised globally as author of ten books.

She grew up in Brisbane and attended the University of Queensland but has spent most of her working life in Rochester, Minnesota, where she completed her Ph.D. and taught religious studies at the University of Minnesota and Augsburg College.

Her books include In Defense of Doubt: an Invitation to Adventure and Florence Nightingale: the Making of a Radical Theologian. Her 2007 book Like Catching Water in a Net: Human Attempts to Describe the Divine won the “general religion” category of the US Best Books 2007 Awards.

Dr Webb is resident again in Australia where she continues to write, teach and lead at Whitley College, Melbourne; Murdoch University, Perth; and United Theological College, Sydney.
