Scottish seascapes, contemporary landscapes, horses and hens feature in an interesting art exhibition of original paintings by Pamela Randal at Mugdock Country Park on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 from 10am to 5pm. Visit www.pamelarandal.co.uk for more information. Free admission.
THE topic for a talk night at the park on Wednesday (September 19) at 7.45pm is Thomas Muir of Huntershill, the Father of Scottish Democracy. Thomas Muir, who campaigned on behalf of ordinary people during the 1790s, has strong claims to be regarded as the key figure in the development of political democracy in Scotland. This is a must for local history enthusiasts and those eager to learn more about this sadly neglected campaigner who championed the political rights of peoples both in his own country and throughout the world. The speaker is Don Martin. Cost £5. Booking essential, phone 0141 956 6100.
