Join in East Dunbartonshire’s big litter clean-up

VOLUNTEERS are needed to take part in East Dunbartonshire’s biggest annual litter clean-up.

The National Spring Clean will take place throughout Scotland until May 31 and is organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful, one of Scotland’s leading environmental charities.

They are calling out to people in Bearsden and Milngavie to do their bit to clean up during the attack on the nation’s litter.

Last year 3,272 adults and children in East Dunbartonshire helped to clean up the local environment and Keep Scotland Beautiful is asking people to get involved again.

David Devine, head of roads and neighbourhood services said: “If there is a park, street, hillside, school ground, industrial estate, or any other part of East Dunbartonshire you would like to help clean up, please log onto www.keepscotlandtidy.co.uk and register your support.

“You will be sent a free clean-up kit containing black sacks, clear sacks for recyclable materials, tabards and information to support your event. For those who need additional materials such as litter pickers and gloves, please contact the East Dunbartonshire Cleansing Team directly on 0141 574 5784 or e-mail cathy.martin@eastdunbarton.gov.uk.”
