Jobs campaign really HAS got people working

THE number of full time job opportunities following the launch of the Get East Dunbartonshire Working campaign has increased.

An additional 13 people who were on work experience placements have moved into employment either with their host employer or another employer.

The current breakdown of opportunities following the campaign is as follows: 69 jobs, nine apprenticeships and 31 work experience placements.

Get East Dunbartonshire Working was a campaign to tackle unemployment in the area. In September it reached its target with a total of 109 job and training opportunities in East Dunbartonshire.

Jo Swinson MP said: “This is more welcome news on the job front in East Dunbartonshire following October’s unemployment figures that showed the total number of unemployed claimants in September of this year was 994 - some 146 lower than in September last year.

“These figures show that gaining vital work experience can lead to employment.

“I will continue to work with local companies to make sure they understand the support that is available from government to create both apprentices, wprk experience and job opportunities.”
