MULTI AWARD winning British chess champion Jacob Aagaard has picked up another accolade after being crowned the Scottish Champion.
The married father with two daughter from Milngavie beat players from across Scotland at the Glasgow Trade Hall recently.
A member of Bearsden Chess Club, Jacob is originally from Denmark, but has lived in Scotland for almost 10 year and although this is the first time he has officially won the Scottish title, he did win it a couple of years ago, but because he had not been in Scotland long enough, could not claim the title.
The 38-year-old, who has played chess since who he was a small boy, now runs a specialist chess book publishing business with co-director John Shaw called Quality Chess.
Mr Shaw, said: “A few days after winning the Scottish title he was also awarded the Best Author Award by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) in Paris for a book he wrote on chess. This is quite an achievement as the Federation is a worldwide organisation.”
