Louise Bennet, Strathblane mum of three sons who are serving in the armed forces, would like to thank everyone who donated cash to her collection.

She and a team of volunteers at Asda, Bearsden and Maryhill, raised £3,368 for Help for Heroes by selling products, including bracelets, lapel badges and Christmas cards and collecting money.

Mrs Bennet is with helpers Gordon and Audrey Thickett, Sophie Hogg and Alex Frew at Asda, Bearsden. She said: “With a son currently serving in Afghanistan I appreciate everything our Forces do for us and I’m delighted with the amount we raised.

“Many thanks to everyone who dug deep in their pockets to help this fantastic cause during these difficult financial times.

“It will go a long way to help the charity to offer support to our wounded heroes.”
