Help at hand

Pupils are being urged to take advantage of an exam results helpline if they don’t get the grades they want next month.

Skills Development Scotland’s free helpline will provide advice about university and college places, clearing, employment and training opportunities and exam re-sits.

Around 160,000 youngsters in Scotland will receive their results on Tuesday, August 7.

Damien Yeates, chief executive of Skills Development Scotland, said: “As always our advice is not to panic - making the call is the vital first move in finding out what options are available.

The helpline will be open from 8am-8pm Tuesday, August 7 and Wednesday, August 8 and from 9am-5pm until Wednesday, August 15.

Youngsters can also visit the SDS facebook page. For more information visit www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk. To contact Skills Development Scotland’s free helpline call 0808 100 8000.
