Hastings is the new Chieftain

RUGBY legend Gavin Hastings OBE has been unveiled as the Chieftain of this year’s Milngavie Highland Games.

The ever-popular event takes place at West of Scotland Rugby Club on Saturday, June 11.

Hastings, whose wife Diane is battling Parkinson’s Disease, said he was “delighted” to be the Chieftain, and by way of a thank you, organiser Alan Oliver said a donation will be made to the former Scotland player’s nominated charity and a raffle will be run on the day with magnificent prizes - the proceeds of which will also go to his charity.

Mr Oliver added: “We are very excited about this year’s event which promises to be even bigger, brighter, and better than ever and we are confident that those who attend will enjoy a fun-tastic family day out.”
