A SELF-EMPLOYED software engineer is asking people to cheer him on in the semi-finals of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent - and reach Saturday’s final.

Greig Stewart (27) will perform the laser harp in front of a tv audience of millions tonight (Thursday).

The former Douglas Academy pupil impressed the judges in the regional finals in Edinburgh last Saturday, with judge David Walliams liking his performance so much he got up and danced.

Greig, a Glasgow University graduate from Braehead Avenue, Milngavie, tweeted: “Over the moon about getting through to the semi finals!” and “Semi-final performance will be this Thursday. Watch, vote, enjoy!”

His laser harp consists of 13 laser beams coming out of the ground which Greig plays by breaking the beams with his hands.

The show will be broadcast at 7.30pm with Greig looking to impress judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams - and get the backing of Herald readers when the votes come in
