Talented Bearsden footballer Alexander Marshall has been selected to play for the Scottish schoolboys under-18s team.

The Boclair Academy pupil has played in numerous Scottish Cup ties, area trials and a final trial to make the grade as one of the squads goalkeepers.

He is one of the 20 young footballers who have been drawn from across the country to represent their country.

The squad has been organised by the Scottish Schools Football Association (SSFA) which is sponsored by TSB Bank Scotland.

Alexander was recently presented with his team strip by the TSB Bank in Bearsden.

Bank manager Thomas Marshall - not related to Alexander - said: “TSB is proud to support the Scottish Schools Football Association. I’d like to congratulate Alexander for making the international squad and we look forward to cheering him on from the sidelines.”

The squad will play four games over the next two months. They have already played Australia in Glasgow at the end of last month. Their next game will be against Wales in Bangor on March 4. This will be followed by Northern Ireland in Comber at the end of March. Then they have a game against England on April 10 in Dumbarton and a final match against the Republic of Ireland on April 23.
