GIRLS from Bearsden Dance group Urbaniks have danced their way to success after winning a major competition in Dundee recently.
The Maximum Dance Scottish Hip Hop and Street Dance Championships, which attracted groups from across Scotland to the city’s Caird Hall saw both the junior u14 and senior u18 group winning their age groups.
Choreographers Pauline Joseph, who runs the school based at the Scout Hall near Roman Road, with her husband Joseph, said: “It was the girls’ first competition in those teams and they were astonished at how well they did. They are still floating on air!”
Pauline added that she was so proud of them and all the hard work they have put in.
She said: “Their timing was on point, they hit it hard and smashed it!”
The Urbaniks ‘crew’ also joined 30 of their Balloch Boyz Crew, and got the opportunity to dance on stage at The Theatre Royal, Glasgow at Go Dance 2012 last month.
Having danced on that stage as a professional dancer, Pauline said: “It is such an awesome venue to dance in, and I am delighted to be able to give our young dancers the feeling that we got, when we were performers.
“Passing on the joy of dance, is the best job in the world.”
Urbaniks next job is to choreograph, and dance, in the music video for up and coming singer songwriter Dee.
