ALL Creatures Great and Small are being welcomed into one Bearsden Church this weekend - to be blessed by the minister.

Rev Kirstin Freeman, minister at All Saints Church in Bearsden, is inviting members and non-members of the church and their pets to the special service on Saturday (September 1) at 2pm.

Rev Freeman said: “This is the first time I’ve held a blessing for pets but already lots of people have told me they will be coming along.

“Someone is bringing their dog and a younger member of church is going to bring a hamster.

“People can bring any animal they like although I’m hoping no-one brings a spider as I’m an arachnaphobic.

“Churches in Troon and Glasgow have carried out pet blessings and they were popular- it’s something that’s getting a bit of momentum.

“There is a lot more awareness about animals these days and their welfare and pet owners have a great love for their animals.”

Some people who heard about this through the internet but live too far away to attend have sent the minster a picture of their pet so they will be included in the service.
