THE Big Garden Birdwatch is returning next week as bird feeders around the country get set to attract a variety of species.
On 28-29 January, bird feeders will be encouraged to entice the winged wildlife to their gardens to provide them with high energy food to help them through the cold season.
The Big Garden Birdwatch has generated some interesting findings over the last 30 years and helps to give a snap shot of bird populations across the different regions.
Ornithologist, Martin George, from CJ Wildlife said: “Surveys like this one help to highlight dramatic declines such as those seen in house sparrows, where the population has more than halved since the mid-70s.
