TALENTED Bearsden and Milngavie youngsters have just completed a fantastic performance of The Wiz - a soulful twist on the Wizard of Oz tale.
Performing at Glasgow’s Platform Theatre, home to the National Theatre of Scotland, the UKTheatreSchool members wowed the crowds in a spectacular production.
Super-talented Kazmin Borrer (13) from Bearsden, who played part of the yellow brick road, Ella Gordon (13) from Milngavie and Erin Scanlon (8) from Milton of Campsie were picked from hundreds of hopefuls to star in this exciting show.
kazmin said: “All the mums, dads, grannies and granddads were dancing in the aisles. It was a great buzz the crowds were totally up for it and the cast got a standing ovation.”
Show producer and UKTheatreSchool principal Lizanne Thomson said “Every year our new directors have the difficult task of casting our shows. There are only a few principal roles in each cast but we have too many talented students. A good complaint I think! The Wiz has showcased some of our younger students this time and is definitely our best show yet.
“Now the shows are over and we are back to weekly training working towards some exciting forthcoming projects including the Radio Clyde Cash for Kids launch, a show supporting Britain’s Got Talent star Hollie Steel and of course our Sleeping Beauty Panto at SECC this Christmas so it’s going to be a busy term for all of our students.
“We are holding open auditions for places in our Glasgow performing arts school on Saturday, November 5 and we are currently taking private auditions.
“Applicants from Bearsden and Milngavie are invited to call and request a prospectus and audition information pack on 0141 332 5192 and hopefully next year we will see more local talent take to the stage.”
