Gaelic project is rolling out across
libraries in the area

East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust is launching a new ‘Gaelic in the Community’ programme at Bishopbriggs Library on Monday October 19 – where people of all ages can enjoy free taster sessions in Gaelic activities.

The launch event is part of the wider Feel Good Book & Arts Festival running from October 10-23 and will kick off a year-long programme of Gaelic community events throughout libraries and other community venues.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of the council’s development and regeneration committee, said: “The launch promises to be a spectacular event with performances from Meadowburn Primary School choir and the extremely talented Gilbert Macmillan. It’s a great way to kick off this exciting new Gaelic in the community programme – make sure you book your place to avoid disappointment.”

Trust chair, Scott Hill added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Gaelic speakers and people keen to find about more the language.”
