Former First Minister Alex Salmond was in East Dunbartonshire at the weekend to open the SNP’s second campaign office in the run-up to the General Eleciton on Thursday, May 7.

Mr Salmond was in Bearsden to lend his support to SNP East Dunbartonshire candidate John Nicolson and open the party’s second campaign office in the constituency in Milngavie Road, Bearsden.

The other office is in Townhead, Kirkintilloch, which was officially opened last month by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Mr Salmond, who is standing in the General Election for the Gordon constituency in Aberdeenshire, is pictured with Mr Nicolson at the opening of the campaign office.

Mr Nicolson, said: “It was great to have Alex Salmond open the SNP’s second East Dunbartonshire campaign shop in Bearsden, following on from Nicola Sturgeon’s visit last month to open our Kirkintilloch HQ.

“We have 1,500 members in the constituency now and have teams out every night meeting voters ahead of the May 7th election - an election which seems set to transform Westminster with the arrival of a large team of hard working SNP MPs.”
