Football fans have been rallying round to help support the family of tragic teenager Paige Doherty.

The regulars at a Bishopbriggs pub have donated signed Celtic and Rangers football tops to an online auction site.

The ‘Paige Doherty Bidding Page’, set up on Facebook by The New Auchinairn Tavern, will take bids up until 6pm on Thursday, March 31.

A manager at the pub posted: “The tops will be auctioned to raise funds to help the Doherty family on the sad loss of their beautiful daughter Paige.”

The body of the 15-year-old, formerly from Bishopbriggs, was discovered in Clydebank on Monday, March 21.

She vanished two days earlier after she had set off for her part-time job at Street Image hairdressers in Kirkintilloch.

Deli boss John Leathem (31) appeared in private at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Saturday, March 26, charged with her murder. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

To date, more than £15,000 has been raised in memory of the teenager.
