Fintry duck race was a quacker

THE duck race is always an important part of the annual Fintry Fling but a recent dry spell of weather meant there wasn’t enough water flowing in the Endrick to put the ducks in the river.

More than 1000 plastic ducks are used in the event which is traditionally organised by the Rotary Club of Strathendrick. This year a group of enthusiastic young people came to the rescue when they ran around the sports field, grabbed a duck from the huge pile, and raced to the finishing line to determine the winners.

Prizes were won as follows - 1st (£100) Mark Scott, 2nd (£50) Ina Comrie, runners-up (£25) Moira Perritt, James Noonan, Douglas Hamilton and Gill Cowan.

The Rotary Club of Strathendrick would like to thank all those who bought ducks and supported this entertaining event, £700 was raised and will now be donated to local youth charities.
