The regular Saturday series of Coffee Concerts in Bearsden Cross Church offers something special on January 16 with an organ recital by Robert Sharpe, organist of York Minster Cathedral.

He has been Director of Music at York Minster since September 2008, having previously held positions at Truro Cathedral, Lichfield Cathedral, St Albans Abbey and Exeter College Oxford.

A former Oxford University organ scholar, he is a frequent and well-known organ recitalist.

Bearsden Cross Church is fortunate to have a fine pipe organ built in 1906 by the Lewis Co. of London, the same builders of the one that once graced Glasgow’s Saint Andrews Halls and another of whose instruments can be heard in Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

His programme includes works by J.S. Bach and Eric Coates. Tickets are £10 from the church office, Purple Edge, or at the door (school children with an adult, free).

It starts at 11.30am with coffee/tea from 10.45am.
