Thousands of people flocked to Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games last Saturday to enjoy a fun-filled day for all the family.

The Games have always had a celebrity chieftain and this year it was ‘soap’ star Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard in ITV’s Emmerdale.

Chris, who appeared free of charge, was happy to pose with dozens of visitors for ‘selfies’.

Thanks to main sponsor National Tyres and Autocare, this year’s event was free to enter.

Organiser Alan Oliver, said: “I’d like to thank all our sponsors this year, National Tyres, Tesco, Grants Haggis and Lunastal, along with East Dunbartonshire Council and Milngavie, Bearsden North and Bearsden East community councils. Without their support we could not have the event.

“Also a massive thank you to all our helpers on the day, about 50 - 60 people pull the event together to make it the success that it is.”

The day raised over £6,000 for local charity Funding Neuro and attracted over 4,000 visitors.
