CALLOUS criminals targeted an elderly woman in Milngavie recently, conning her out of a four figure sum of money.
The police are appealing for witnesses after two bogus workmen visited the 80-year-old’s home in Hunter Place and told her that her roof needed to be repaired.
The pensioner agreed to the work and they returned at around 3pm the next day and told her they’d carried out the repairs.
Then she went to the bank to get them the cash they’d asked for and paid them a four figure amount when she returned.
The police have issued a description of the male suspects - the first was around 5ft 8in height, slim with sandy coloured hair, the second was 35 to 45 years old, wearing a dark jacket and a third man, of similar appearance to the second, may have been nearby and a small silver car, spotted near the scene, may be connected.
