Earl of Wessex to present awards at Bearsden Academy

The Earl of Wessex is to pay a Royal visit to Bearsden Academy on Thursday to meet youngsters who have completed their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and hand out five British Empire Medals.

The official ceremony will take place on between 3 and 4.30pm.

Prince Edward will be accompanied by The Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, Rear Admiral Michael Gregory OBE and VIPs from authority.

These include Provost Una Walker; Council Leader Rhondda Geekie; coucillor Eric Gotts, convener of education; Mr Gerry Cornes, Chief Executive; John Simmons, Director of Education and Social Work; Gordon Currie, Head of Education; Barry Fisher, Duke of Edinburgh Director Scotland; Mr Simon Ross, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Manager; Miss Helen Moore, Duke of Edinburgh Award’s Development Officer; George Cooper, Head Teacher of Bearsden Academy and school Captains, Douglas Morton and Morven Macaulay.
