Police have arrested six men following a drugs raid that recovered drugs worth almost £40,000.

Serious and Organised Crime Unit officers swooped on addresses in Springburn on Thursday, May 5.

The first raid took place in Springburn at around 9.30am when they arrested two men, aged 20 and 29.

A further operation in the same street uncovered heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of £13,000 and two more men, both aged 53, were arrested.

Later that day, at 6.50pm, police raided a house in Viewpoint Place and cannabis with an estimated value of £25,000 was found.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, were arrested and are detained in connection with the find.

Chief inspector Joe McKerns said: “The drugs seized yesterday will not be on our streets this weekend or any other time.

“These operations were intelligence-led and due to local people supplying us with vital information. We were then able to take action, resulting in six arrests and serious and harmful drugs being recovered.

“Operations such as these demonstrate our commitment to listening to local people’s concerns and to ridding our communities of drugs.”
