Don’t forget to recycle your Christmas tree this year

Residents are being encouraged to help the environment during the festive period by recycling their Christmas trees.

From Monday, January 5, 2015, the council will be putting skips in Strathkelvin Retail Park Bishopbriggs, (far end of car park at B&Q), Homebase in Milngavie, William Patrick Library car park in Kirkintilloch and the Mavis Valley Recycling Centre in Bishopbriggs so that people can dispose of their Christmas trees in an environmentally friendly way. The skips will be in place until Monday, January 19, 2015.

If you want to recycle your Christmas tree but cannot take it to one of the tree recycling points, call the Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 4510, who will arrange for the tree to be picked up for recycling FREE in the week commencing 19 January 2015.

Christmas trees collected in East Dunbartonshire are made into an excellent compost/soil improver.
