DO you have a coach who goes the extra mile? Does he or she have excellent skills in encouraging and developing those they are coaching?
East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, in partnership with sportscotland, is looking to reward top coaches whose performance greatly enhances the experience of those they teach.
If you know someone who deserves a Local Coach and Volunteer Award you may want to nominate them for one of the following categories - young coach, young persons coach, participation coach, development coach, performance coach and disability coach.
All nominees must hold a recognised governing body of sport coaching qualification and nominations must clearly demonstrate why you think the nominee should be recognised, taking into account the criteria and providing clear evidence of the nominee’s creativity in developing their coaching skills, ability to ensure a high quality experience for their players and teams and their development of long-term opportunities to their community, group of athletes or individuals.
Anyone who wins a Local Coach or Volunteer Award, will automatically be put forward for a National Coach or Volunteer Award held by sportscotland later in the year.
Chair of the Leisure and Culture Trust, Councillor Amanda Stewart, will present the awards at a ceremony in Tom Johnston House in October.
She said: “Many coaches give up their free time to share their skills and develop the talents of others within the community. It takes a great deal of commitment and at the Leisure and Culture Trust we wanted to reward those who do so much to enhance the sporting experience of those they coach. If you have a coach in mind who you think is outstanding, please take the time to nominate him or her.”
Nomination forms can be obtained by phoning Stuart Alexander on 0141 578 8459, e-mailing email@example.com or by asking for one at your local leisure centre. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, September 23.
Postal nominations should go to Coach and volunteer Awards, Stuart Alexander, Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre, Woodhead Park, Kirkintilloch, G66 3DD. Handwritten applications must be legible and written in black ink using block capitals.
