The head of new Scottish design house, Toshie Mackintosh, has previewed his work on Times Square in New York City as part of Scotland Week celebrations.

Charles Randak, who lives in Milngavie and graduated from Glasgow School of Art, gave tourists a sneak peek of his new range.

It features designs inspired by Glasgow designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s nine square motif.

He said: “It was quite fun stopping the traffic in Times Square while we did the photo-shoot, although I think our cameras were outnumbered by a hundred to two judging by the tourists who took the opportunity to get shots of Mary Margaret as she strode throughout the traffic.

“We then moved on to the DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) district for a more relaxed session.”

Charles’ business, Randak Design, has been involved in Scotland Week for many years so he wanted to showcase his designs at the world famous event.

Randak is also the team behind the new branding launching this summer for Mugdock Country Park’s new visitor centre.

The official launch of Toshie Mackintosh will take place in Dubai later this year.
