Alternative blues singer songwriter Dave Arcari has announced that he will play this August’s MugStock Music festival.

The musician, who lives near Drymen, has a busy couple of weeks ahead of him, as he’s also playing Perth’s Southern Fried Festival next weekend, on July 31.

So far this year Arcari has performed all across the USA and the UK but he is now looking forward to performing closer to home.

He said: “In between getting back to Scotland and the forthcoming live shows, I’ve been busy at Chem19 studios with engineer/produced Paul Savage (Delgados) recording tracks to be released later this year.”

Arcari has shared the stage with major artists including country/Americana legend Steve Earle, the mighty Alabama 3, Seasick Steve, Toby Keith and veteran blues-rocker Robin Trower.

He is a regular at UK and European festivals, and cites recent highlights as Glastonbury, the Moulin Blues Festival in Holland and Belgium’s Peer Festival, where he appeared alongside Jeff Beck and Steve Winwood.

Arcari will join other acts at MugStock, which includes an exclusive UK performances by Californian world fusion band Beats Antique and worldwide million-album festival favourites Dodgy.

The small boutique festival at Mugdock Country Park, near Milngavie, will take place between August 7-9 in the beautiful surroundings of the park.

The ever growing line-up features an eclectic mix of music from folk, funk, rock, jazz and dance through to world, reggae, and electro-swing.

MugStock director Alan Govan said: “We are over the moon to announce such a worldclass line-up for our first festival. We have also been humbled by the number and quality of acts from closer to home who have offered to play at the festival. We have had over 200 applications and it has opened my eyes to the incredible vibrancy of the Scottish music scene.”

Additional activities for all ages have been planned, including hula-hoopers, science activities, dance sessions and even a one man band.

The programme is a dynamic mix from Glasgow’s vibrant music scene alongside major international names.
