A team of dancers who are taught by a talented Milngavie woman have won a place in the finals of Talent Fest UK to represent Scotland next year.

April Stuart Macrae (22), who set up a dance school at Clober Primary School at the age of just 20, has recently moved her dance school, now called April’s Street Feet’, to Clydebank.

April has previously appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, performed alongside X-Factor finalists and in pantos, toured China, Dubai and Ireland with a girl band called Gurlesque, then performed and managed her own band called ‘Sweet Injection’.

She has also appeared in River City, TV adverts and short films, done cheerleading in America, appeared on Blue Peter and helps a new charity called Smiles All Round which works with seriously ill and underpriviliged children.

Dedicated April, who was crowned ‘Miss Teen Beauty Queen’ in 2009, took ten under eight year old pupils to Liverpool recently to compete in Talent Fest UK and they got through to the finals which will be in Blackpool in September next year.

April said: “Their performance was amazing and they had so much fun taking part.

“We hired a mini-bus and drove down at 5am and had a sleepover the night before.

“I crimped all their hair the night before and got them prepared. They were all very excited but so well behaved and represented Scotland beautifully.”

April is going to take the rest of the school to Talent Fest UK in Glasgow on June 20 where they will perform solos, hip hop, singing and drama monologues.

She is also putting on the dance school’s first big show called ‘Schools Out’ at Clydebank Town Hall on Friday, June 19 and holding an open day at her new dance studios in Clydebank Shopping Centre on Saturday, June 27 from 10am onwards.

April added: “This is no ordinary dance show, it’s got a great story about bullying behind it.”

The open day will have bouncy castles, face painting and lots of other fun surprises as well as information about classes and registration forms.

Tickets for the show are available by dropping into the dance studio or phoning 07951 276266 or 07960 825767.
