Firemen have rescued a man and a woman after their car became stuck in rising flood waters.
The couple called 999 after getting into trouble between Kirkintilloch and Lennoxtown shortly before 11.30am on Sunday, December 6, and a crew from Kirkintilloch Community Fire Station reached the scene around seven minutes later.
Watch Manager Graeme Fyfe, the incident commander, said: “The caller reported the water was at the bottom of the car’s window and when we arrived the level seemed to be rising.
“Firefighters utilised tow lines as they safely removed the man and woman from the vehicle and we requested an ambulance to check that they weren’t suffering from hypothermia. A paramedic assessed them both and thankfully neither required treatment.”
“The ambulance service transported the two safely back to their home and firefighters left the scene around 12.15pm.”
