KILLEARN Bridge Club results for Tuesday, February 7 (teams of four) are: winners David Amon & Joy Kirkland/ Beth Farish & Judith Townson, runners-up – April Bureau & Iain Watt/Irene Hardie & Ian Pascoe.

Killearn Community Council’s next meeting is going to be held on Wednesday at 8pm in the primary school. Representatives of Banks Renewables will be there to update everyone on their proposals for a wind farm at Ard Ghaoth (Craigievern). All local residents are invited to attend the meeting.

DRYMEN WRI enjoyed an evening of flowers, most welcome in the month of February, and hopefully picked up some tips for the forthcoming show season.

Balfron

THE film Casablanca is going to be shown on the big screen on March 2 at 7.30pm in Balfron High School theatre.

According to the American Film Institute Casablanca, is rated third best film of all time, after Citizen Kane, and The Godfather.

The society would like to apologise for recent publicity which stated that Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy was the next film they were screening. It will be shown on March 16..

Many will have seen this film on television, but viewing any film on the big screen with an appreciative audience is so much more enjoyable. The screen is 21 foot wide, and the theatre has raked seating. One night membership is £4 and you can pay at the door. For more information go to www.film-society.org

SCOUT Association Parent’s Meeting - if you have a son in the Beavers, Cubs or Scouts or if you’d like there to be any of these groups in the future for your child to join please go along to the Scout Hall on Tuesday evening to offer your support to these groups to enable them to continue.

THE Heritage Society is going to meet on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Village Club and David Lawson will present a talk about “Scottish Doctors”.

SENIOR Citizens - the group’s AGM will be held in the Edmonstone Hall on February 28 and part of the evening will be a talk by Martin Shields on old and new photographs.

STRATHBLANE Reading Group - this month’s meeting will be held on Tuesday at 8pm in the library and all are welcome to join in the discussion on this month’s book, The Outlander by Gil Adamson.

STRATHENDRICK Embroiderers’ Guild - this month, at 2pm, Jean Leader will talk on “Lace” as part of the day long meeting. The morning session in Killearn New Church Halls will comprise of a workshop show and display beginning at 10.30am. The Young Embroiderers Group will meet next Saturday in Balfron’s McLintock Hall from 9.30am until midday.
