KILLEARN PTA Christmas Fayre is going to be held tomorrow (Saturday) from 10.30am until 1.30pm in the Village Hall.

Almost 20 stallholders are going to be there, selling a wide range of products including ideal Christmas presents from some very talented craftsmen and women. There will also be a tombola, guess the weight of the dumpling and lots of things for children too.

Raffle tickets for the luxury Christmas hamper will be on sale in the playground over the next couple of weeks as well as tomorrow. The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the fayre. Entrance costs £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children, this will include a complimentary warm festive drink on entry and tea/coffee/juice and mince pies. Donations for tombolas may be handed in to the school office before 3.15pm today (Friday) or the Village Hall before 10.30am tomorrow.

KILLEARN Community Council - Stirling Council has arranged a drop-in event, to be held in the Village Hall on Friday, December 2 from 3pm to 9pm, to enable local residents to find out more about the draft proposed local development plan. Both the policy document and the specific plan for Killearn can be accessed on the Community Council website.

Please remember to vote for Killearn Field (the football ground and the playground) to become a Queen Elizabeth II Field. This will protect it as open space in perpetuity. Online voting in Scotland begins on December 1. The website  is http://www.qe2fields.com/. You can also access this from the Community Council website.

Balfron

STRATHENDRICK Film Society - last week’s film ‘Made in Dagenmham’ had an audience of 66 and the voting was as follows: A 37, B 22, C 5, D 2, E 0. With A being the highest.

The next film night is on Friday, December 2 at 7.30pm. Jack Nicholson stars in ‘As Good as it Gets‘ which runs for (139 minutes).

BALFRON Primary Parent Council is holding a winter fair in the McLintock Hall tonight (Friday) from 7 till 9.45pm. Entrance costs £2.

Strathblane

STRATHBLANE Primary School Christmas Fair - is today (Friday) from 6.30pm until 9pm, entry costs £2 and includes a free glass of mulled wine.

There will be stalls by local artisans, sample waffles, a chocolate fountain, a book stall, jewellery and visit a jar jamboree stall. This is a lovely start to the festive season - Santa will also be in his grotto.

SCOUT fundraising Christmas Disco - is tomorrow (Saturday) in the Scout Hall - dance until you drop and help raise money for the local Scout group at the same time. Tickets are available in local shops, the library and from the fundraising committee.

FUN Hut Christmas Fair Village Club - is on Saturday, December 3 from 10am until 12pm. There will be festive stalls, fun with crafts, coffee and home baking and, even a guest appearance from Santa.

COMMUNITY council monthly meeting - the usual, open meeting will be held in the primary school on Monday, December 5 from 7.30pm. Minutes of previous meetings and the agenda for the December meeting are available in the library.

A special ‘birthday party’ event is going to be held in the Kirkrooms on Saturday, December 17. Following the success of the Monster Apple Party Strathblane Parish Church is going to hold another event for primary school aged children with games, singing and crafts and a chance to help tell a very important story.
