EAST Dunbartonshire is investigating allegations that some of its employees have been selling on valuable scrap metal.
The council said it couldn’t comment further, but it’s believed that the staff have been accused of selling items after carrying out work at council properties and collecting goods in special uplifts.
Ann Davie, East Dunbartonshire Council’s head of customer relations and organisational development, said: “I can confirm that as a precautionary measure the council has suspended a number of individuals under our disciplinary procedures policy.
“A precautionary suspension is not a disciplinary measure, but allows us to conduct an investigation into allegations.
“We are unable to comment any further whilst the matter is under investigation.”
