The Scottish SPCA’s centre in Glasgow is seeking new homes for 11 snakes.

Staff at the charity’s centre in Cardonald are caring for the exotic creatures and knowledgeable owners are being encouraged to come forward.

Centre assistant manager Katrina Cavanagh, said: “Some of the snakes in our care were found as strays and never reclaimed, while others are here because their owners could no longer look after them.

“Unfortunately we seem to struggle to rehome exotics animals in the area and don’t receive many enquiries about our snakes.

“A lot of people are put off by their appearance but we know there are plenty of reptile enthusiasts out there who will appreciate them for the stunning creatures they are.

“Ideally we would like to hear from people who have kept reptiles before.

“Snakes have specialist care requirements and should not be rehomed on a whim so we would certainly urge any first-time snake owners to do their research.”
