Police are concerned for the wellbeing of a 53-year-old man who has gone missing from the Kirkintilloch area.

John MacLeod was last seen by family members at his home in Muirside Avenue around 1am on Tuesday, August 16.

Officers said he has recently been dealing with family issues and his family is extremely concerned for his wellbeing.

He is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, heavy built with short grey hair and a grey beard. He is believed to be wearing a black jacket with padding on shoulders.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries within the immediate area and are looking to secure any CCTV footage available.

John also has connections in Edinburgh and family in the North-East of England and London.

Inspector Ewan Henderson from Kirkintilloch Police Office said: “It is quite out of character for John not to be in contact with his family and friends and he has never gone missing before.

“We just want to know that he is safe and well as his family are very worried about him. If anyone has seen John or has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts, please contact Police Scotland as a matter of urgency.

“Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Kirkintilloch Police Office on the Police non-emergency number, 101.”
