Chance to sample taste of local history

Milngavie and Bearsden Herald newspaper articles will be part of an exhibition in Bearsden’s Brookwood Library for Local History Week.

The clippings will feature World War One recipes, adverts and images alongside photographs, articles and collectible items which will focus on local shops, events, restaurants and businesses.

Young people are being invited to make their own lemonade in Milngavie Town Hall on Saturday, March 14 from 1pm to 4pm to commemorate the significant history of soft drink manufacturing in Milngavie - with Garvie’s lemonade factory the most famous example.

There will also be another opportunity to participate in the previously popular Time Capsule workshop.

Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult.

And a local expert will be at Milngavie Library on Friday, March 13, from 1pm to 3pm to show people the Scran facility which provides access to images, sounds and movies from Scotland and beyond.
