MILNGavie Heritage Centre is holding an exhibition to mark Local History week entitled Fountains and Fields.
The free event runs from Tuesday March 5 until Saturday 9 in the former court room at Milngavie Town Hall from 10am to 4pm daily.
Other events include on Wednesday at 7.30pm a talk by Brian Skillen in the centre entitled ‘Sea Monsters of the Clyde and Loch Lomond.’
This is followed on Friday by a guided historical walk to the ‘Gowks’s Stane’ led by Andrew and Lilias Summers. Anyone interested should meet at Blanefield War Memorial at 2pm.
There will be another historical guided walk the following day along the Allander. This one is led by Donald Shankland and people should meet at Gavin’s Mill at 11am.
Finally between March 2 and 9 there will be an exhibition of postcards of the ‘Auld Wives Lifts’ and other local curiosities at Milngavie Library during opening hours. All events are free.
