Capital success from Garscube Harrier Catriona Graves

It was a great result for Garscube Harriers athlete Catriona Graves after she won the Girls’ U17 road race in Edinburgh.

Catriona was competing in the Scottish Athletics Junior Road Race Championships held at the Herriot Watt Campus in Riccarton on March 16. At the same venue the Garscube Boys also picked up bronze.

Competing over a distance of 5.2k in a time of 18mins 23seconds, she was 19 seconds clear of second placed Gillian Black from Victoria Park Glasgow, in 18.42. Third was Annabell Simpson Fife AC, in 18.51. Garscube Girl Georgia Callender finished 13th in a time of 22.02.

In the Boys race run over 2.6k Elliot Duff finished in 9th position in a time of 8.55, 13th Arun Smith 9.03, 14th Jack Cuthbertson 9.04, for Elliot, Arun and Jack to win the team bronze medal. Other placings and times were: 16th Jack Trainer 9.06, 26th Daniel McGarrie 9-19, 27th Ross Chapman 9-24, 36th James Cathro 9-34.

In the Boys U15 race run over 4.3k, Cody Stevenson finished in 46th place in 16.24.

After her victory last weekend in the Glasgow senior woman race, Lesley Chisholm travelled to Woolaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday March 22 to represent Scotland at the Home Counties International Cross Country Event. Lesley finished in 12th position and was second Scottish runner in a time of 30mins 2secs in the 8k race.

A club spokesperson said: “This was a great result for Lesley who along with team mates Megan Crawford from Fife AC finish 9th in a time of 29.41, and 14th Amy Campbell from Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers in a time of 30.20 secured 4th poition in the senior womans team event.”
