Poppyscotland urgently needs volunteers in the Milngavie and Bearsden area to help with this year’s Scottish

Poppy Appeal.

The charity, which supports veterans and their families across Scotland, is seeking people who can give up a few hours to help out with local collections in November.

Last year £30,648 was raised in the area thanks to the efforts of all the volunteers and the generosity of the community.

Poppyscotland’s area organiser Helen Watt thanked everyone for their support last year.

She said: “Without the generosity of the people of Milngavie & Bearsden it would not have been possible to raise such a fantastic amount. This money is used to help members of Scotland’s Armed Forces community when they need it most and it gives them a chance of a better future.

“But there’s always more that we can do. That is why I’m appealing to anyone who has some spare time to get in touch to help us raise even more than last year.”

The Scottish Poppy Appeal is one of the largest charity campaigns in the country and last year raised £2,643,821 to help support Poppyscotland’s work with the Armed Forces community.
