Residents are being warned to be vigilant after reports about a bogus caller who has been knocking on doors in Milngavie and Bearsden asking for cash for a charity magazine.

The caller, who wears an identity label, was selling copies of a magazine for £3.

A police spokesman said: “If you receive any suspicious callers do not allow them into your property and decline whatever they are offering you.

“Phone the company they claim to work for. Genuine callers will not mind you checking up on them.

“Take down as much detail about the suspicious person as possible, such as appearance, accent, the company they claim to work for and detail about any vehicle they may be using, including registration, and hand it in to police.”
