Screen stars Billy Connolly and David Tennant were in Milngavie on Tuesday while filming a new BBC movie.
A part of the town’s Douglas Street car park was closed off from 7am till 4pm to allow film crews to set up.
Filming of What We Did On Our Holiday took place in the Tea Cosy cafe.
It’s about a dysfunctional family who head to Scotland on a chaotic trip for their granddad’s 75th birthday.
The film is the directorial debut of Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton, creators of BBC family comedy Outnumbered.
Former Doctor Who Tennant plays Doug, whose marriage is breaking down as he returns to Scotland for a family occasion, while Connolly plays a character named Georgie.
Celia Imrie, Ben Miller, Amelia Bullmore and Bond girl Rosamund Pike also star.
Producer Dan Winch said: “We’re shooting at a few private houses largely in and around Glasgow, so our production base is there. We’re shooting fully on location.
“We’ve been working on the film for a long time now so it’s going to be good to get the cameras rolling.”
What We Did on Our Holiday will adopted similar improvisational techniques to Outnumbered, where the children came out with unscripted responses, creating that ‘what will they say next?’ humour. It is due for release in 2014.
Catering vans for cast and crew have been set up at West of Scotland rugby club’s grounds.
